Good digital art setup?
My mother used to do photo restoration by hand, and we have recently decided to revive the family art studio - but this time using digital technology to restore photos. I was just looking up some good setups and tips.
So far, I was thinking I would get the Wacom Cintiq (Size suggestions?)
And of course Photoshop CS5 (Any better suggestions?)
The only thing I am questioning is the computer setup. Apple/windows? Important factors, ect. Thanks so much for any advice!
Well given that you have no money constrain then I would say you have got an ultimate digital painting setup plan in mind. Now, if your looking long-term and heavy usage of your studio then probably apple mac would be a great option (either imac or mac pro). There again rather then spending big on one thing (wacom cintiq) I would say get two monitor screens and one wacom drawing tablet (intous 4). The thing is cintiqs are great but ppl say somehow their hand would get tired with it sometime. Ya photoshop cs5 will be all good (even cs4). What you could do is buy cs4 and put the extra that you save toward online video training subscription (like kelbytraining.com or lynda.com etc) so to help your transition from traditional to digital painting/restoration. Ya for computers pay extra attention to memory ram (at least 2gb+) otherwise extra bigger photoshop files would open/operate/close slightly slower.
