Video games for young kids?
I'm looking into the V-Smile and the Leapster L-Max for my daughter. She does have TV time limits already, so don't worry, she won't be stuck on it all day (please don't give me that answer)- plus I babysit a 3 yr old and a 13 month old - so it would be just part of her one hour of screen time she's allowed after they leave. Lately she's been more interested in using her screen time on the computer than in front of the TV, soooo - I though a video game system would be a good idea.
Anyone have one of these? What do you think?
Anyone have BOTH of these? Which is better for a pc savvy 4 yr old who's passed the PreK level homeschool stuff and into the Kindergarten level materials?
We are running NoodleNet and my 4 year old loves it! www.NoodleNet.com I know this is a computer program, but we have tried those devices from V-Tech & Leapster and after spending all that money they just lose interest.
NoodleNet basically gives your child access to tons of age appropriate content from the internet that has been reviewed by people, not technology. It keeps them safe from the bad stuff on the internet and prevents them from messing up the computer. Says age 3 to 11 and yes, it has a timer you can set. One of the best features I like is that they can’t get out of the program, you need the parents password. Even if unplug the computer and plug it back in, it boots right back into NoodleNet. This is the only program that I have found that I feel confident that my child is protected. The diffidently worth checking out if you have kids that are taking an interest to the computer!
