What kind of little bugs live on faux wood blinds?
I received a large quantity of surplus faux wood blinds, most of them packed in styrofoam, plastic, and cardboard. They have these tiny little reddish-brown crawling bugs all over them - lots of them. They have survived rain and are continuing to thrive, weeks later. I don't think they fly. My friend says she saw them leaping, up to a foot or more in the air, though I have not observed this. What are they and should I just spray them with bug spray? Will the spray damage the blinds?
It sounds like collembola. Collembola are an order of insect that are harmless to people and there things. I wouldn't bother spraying. They won't damage anything. I would just take the blinds outside and wipe them with a damp cloth.
