Recommend a Jedi-Related Star Wars Expanded Universe book series?
Already read Jedi Apprentice a few years ago. Looking for New Republic-era books. No idea where to go, where to start, etc.
My advise for anyone asking where to start with the SW EU books is the same every single time ... The Thrawn Trilogy. It was brilliantly written by Hugo Award winning author Timothy Zahn and the titles are "Heir To The Empire", "Dark Force Rising", & "The Last Command". To this day "The Last Command" is one of only a very few books that I have ever read cover to cover in one sitting ... just couldn't put the book down. These 3 books are the ones that most fans, to the outrage of Lucas, point to as the main spark that brought the SW story back to life. On review of the books said that Zahn captures the essence of SW so well that you can almost hear the soundtrack of John Williams playing in your head as you read ... I have to second that opinion. The story is set 5 years after the events of ep VI. Han & Leia are married and Leia is pregnant with twins. Luke is continuing his search for records of the old Jedi Order in hopes of finding training methods that would help him start a new Jedi Order. The Empire has been driven to the back water regions of the galaxy after they lose battle after battle with the New Republic. That is when the last of Palpatine's 12 Grand Admirals, Grand Admiral Thrawn, returns from his duties in the Unknown Regions of the galaxy and assumes command of the Imperial Fleet. There is also a lot of "mystery" in the Jedi department in the form of Jorrus C'boath ... a very powerful Jedi Master thought to have died before the start of the Clone Wars. These books also introduce us to most of the "new" characters that will carry the story forward.
Here's a link to a timeline of SW books found at Del Rey books, the official publisher of SW books:

After the Thrawn Trilogy I would recommend the X-Wing books as they introduce us to the rest of the "new" characters and tell more about the background of some of the lessor characters of the movies. Then I would follow the time line for books to read. There are some that can be skipped. The Black Fleet Crisis, Children of the Jedi, Darksaber,
Planet of Twilight, The Crystal Star (By far the absolute worst book of the SW EU). Most of the others are pretty good and some are great.
May The Force Be With You ...
